The Lions have only a short hop down to Dunedin from Christchurch for their match against the Highlanders.
The week has been significantly better for the Lions than last, what with the result against the Crusaders and everything that went with that. The team will be feeling a lot more relaxed about things and we are expecting another step up against this Highlanders side.
In fairness, we believe that we are seeing the first glimpse of the midweek team for the tour. This said, there are a number of players that will want to take this opportunity and make one last push for the test side. There are still a few places open but they are closing quickly. What chance does Kiwi Jared Payne have of making the 23 for next Saturday? And how is Malakai Fekitoa going to perform after being left out by the All Blacks?
There are intriguing battles all over the park, but possibly none more so than that of James Haskell vs all of the Highlanders. Haskell spent a bit of time in Dunedin and he will be wanting to kick start his tour, and remind the locals what they are missing.
The 1014 Show
Don’t miss the in-depth discussion from The Shed where we get into detail on the selections and what they mean. There is a lot to read into what Gatland is doing.
We guess the biggest question is though, can the Lions build on that defensive master class against the Crusaders on Saturday?

The last time I did this I ended up convincing my wife to cycle 26,125km across three continents, and 22 countries with me as part of the Pedalling Prescotts.
