The first 2017 Lions 23 has been selected.
Here we go! It’s about to take off.
The first 23 players have been selected to represent the British & Irish Lions on the 2017 tour to New Zealand. The NZ Provincial Barbarians will face a mixed side with five Englishmen, four Welsh, three Irish and three Scots.

Sam Warburton captains the team with an all Welsh back row. None of the players that played in last weekend’s Pro 12 and English Premiership finals were considered. The squad arrived in New Zealand yesterday and have just three full days to hit the ground running.
It’s going to be interesting to see which way they play. Will they reveal the first seeds of a gameplan to defeat the All Blacks? Will they use Warrenball like we discussed here?
